SEPTA Key Card FAQs

- What is a SEPTA Key Card?

A SEPTA Key Card is a contactless card that you can use for fare payment in SEPTA Transit. It can also be used as a prepaid debit card for non-transit transactions anywhere that accepts Debit Mastercard in the US if you choose to use that optional feature.

- Are there any fees associated with the SEPTA Key Card?

There are no fees for using a SEPTA Key card only for SEPTA Travel, however if you choose to use the optional Debit Mastercard feature of the card, certain fees may apply. See the Cardholder Agreement for full details.

- Do I have to use the Debit Mastercard feature of my SEPTA Key Card?

The Debit Mastercard feature is optional, and if you choose to use it, certain fees may apply; see Cardholder Agreement for full details.

- Is Debit Mastercard money kept separate from the Travel Wallet?

Yes, the two accounts are kept separate.

- What if I forget my PIN?

If you have forgotten your PIN, please contact Customer Service at 1-855-567-3782; the PIN number can be reset over the automated system.

- How do I check the balance of my SEPTA Key Card?

Balance checks are available online at www.SEPTAKey.org or at any fare vending device. You may also call Customer Service at 1-855-567-3782.

- How do I know my money has been loaded and how much was loaded?

To know how much was loaded and when, you can login and arrange to receive an alert* every time funds are received. You can also check your SEPTA Key Card information at www.SEPTAKey.org, by calling the toll free customer service line 1-855-567-3782.

- What happens if my SEPTA Key Card is lost or stolen?

If you believe your SEPTA Key Card has been lost or stolen or that someone has accessed or may access your card without your permission, CALL US IMMEDIATELY AT 1-855-567-3782. Calling us is the best way to limit your possible losses. If your card was registered a replacement card will be issued and any available Transit fare products and/or Debit Mastercard money will be transferred to the new SEPTA Key Card. As long as the lost or stolen SEPTA Key Card is reported immediately, you will not be responsible for any unauthorized charges. The replacement card fee is $4.95.
